The third, and last stage, of the race Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen was characterized by side wind and cold temperatures... A lot of riders didn't finish the race because of those poor weather conditions.

Only three BMC riders managed to cross the finish line : Danilo, Martin Kohler and Simon Zahner. As they had to deal with many attacks the whole day long, the BMC guys lost a lot of strength during the stage and when the time to sprint came up, they were tired.

They gave everything they had on the road today but they were too exhausted for the final sprint. But Simon Zahner, even if he's not a sprinter, managed to finish 16th of this last stage.

Danilo finishes on the 42nd rank and he ends up 22nd in the general classification.

The second stage of  the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen went well for Danilo as he managed to finish this stage by grabbing the 11th rank in the final sprint, ending very well a cold day spent on the belgian roads.

« As it already was the case yesterday, today it was quite cold and the wind was blowing strongly, as usual : it was difficult and tough to ride our bikes in those conditions… The good thing though was the fact that it didn’t rain ! »

Because of the wind, the peloton got splitted up on many occasions. «  The wind made the race more difficult as riders were loosing touch with the bunch the whole time. But everyone managed to stay in the bunch at the end and the race unfolded with a massive sprint. »

« Today was my turn to sprint, explains Danilo. I’m happy about how things went even if I didn’t manage to finish in the top 10 : this rank, 11th, is a good result and I’m happy with myself. »

Danilo was racing today in Belgium, taking part to the first stage of the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen (180 km). Today’s weather was quite cold but it didn’t rain.

“I was told that it was going to rain or even snow, explains Dan. We got lucky as it started to rain with only 15 kilometers to go…”

“After about 40 km, four guys escaped the peloton and this was the main breakaway of the day. They were 10 minutes ahead of us and the bunch took a while before chasing them…”

The peloton was getting nervous at the end of the race and the wind was blowing strongly (as usual in Belgium)… “Once the breakaway got caught, we worked for Martin Kohler who was our best chance for the final sprint today. Unfortunately, Martin was suck inside the peloton and couldn’t sprint properly.”
